Annibale de Gasparis

Annibale de Gasparis (April 9 1819March 21 1892) was an Italian astronomer. From 1864–1889 he was the director of the Capo di Monte Observatory in Naples.

He won the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1851.

The lunar crater de Gasparis with 30 kilometer diameter is named in his honor, as well as the Rimae de Gasparis, a 93 kilometer long fracture near the crater. Also an asteroid was named after him, 4279 De Gasparis.
