Baby Ruth is a candy bar which is made of chocolate covered peanut and nougat, though the nougat found in it is more like fudge than is found in many other American candy bars.

Naming
Although the name of the candy bar sounds nearly identical to the name of the famous baseball player, Babe Ruth, the manufacturer of the candy bar has traditionally claimed that it was named after President Grover Cleveland's daughter, Ruth Cleveland. This is controversial because it is argued by many that the company's claim is bogus and was originally used merely to avoid having to pay Babe Ruth any royalties while still recieving the benefit of such a hot name.
History
The candy bar was first produced by the Curtiss Candy Company but today, after twentieth century food product company mergers and acquisitions, is produced by Nestle.
