Big Ten (movie studios)
From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.
The Big Ten refers to the ten major Hollywood movie studios:
- 20th Century Fox
- Buena Vista (Disney Studios)
- Dreamworks SKG
- New Line Cinema
- MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer)
- Miramax/Dimension Films
- Paramount Pictures
- Sony Pictures
- Universal Studios
- Warner Bros.
As Time Warner owns both New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. and Disney owns both Buena Vista/Disney Studios and Miramax/Dimension Films, these ten movie studios are controlled by eight corporations, known as the Big Eight.
These ten movie studios are contrasted with other smaller movie studios, which are known as independent studios (indies).
