Bolgar language

Bolgar (also Bolğar), the language of the Volga Bolgars, was a Turkic language, now extinct, spoken by the people who now call themselves Kazan Tatars. However, Tatar, the language spoken by the Kazan Tatars, is not itself derived from the ancient Bolgar language, but is rather a member of the Kypchak (or Northwestern) group of Turkic languages.
