Britishness test

The Britishness test is a hypothetical list of questions that will be posed to applicants for British citizenship. The concept was recommended in 2003 by Sir Bernard Crick's advisory group on citizenship, and endorsed by the United Kingdom Home Secretary David Blunkett. Applicants will have to demonstrate a certain level of fluency in English, Welsh, or Gaelic.

According to The Guardian [1], typical citizenship test questions (proposed) may look like:

• Who is the prime minister?
  • As of 2004, the answer is 'The Right Honourable Anthony Charles Lynton "Tony" Blair, member of Parliament'
• How do you pay a phone bill?
• What does it mean to be a good neighbour?
• How did the United Kingdom come about?
• When was Britain last invaded?
• Identify the political party with each of the following three policy statements ...
