Brooks Robinson

Brooks Calbert Robinson, Jr. (born May 18, 1937) is an American former third baseman in Major League Baseball. He played his 23-year career with the Baltimore Orioles (1955-77).

Robinson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up to play third base for the Orioles, and gained great renown for his fielding ability. Nicknamed "The Human Vacuum Cleaner", he received 16 Gold Gloves during his career, tied for the most for any player.

In 1964 Robinson earned MVP honors. A consecutive 15-time All-Star (1960-74), he was selected ASG MVP in the same season. Beside this, he played in four World Series, receiving the 1970 WS MVP and the Hickok Belt as top professional athlete of the year as well.

In his career, Robinson compiled a .267 batting average with 268 home runs and 1357 RBI. He was selected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983.
