A computer reservations system, or CRS, is a computerized system used to reserve airline tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, and other travel services. Originally designed and operated by airlines, the systems were later extended to travel agents, and many are now accessible to consumers through the internet.
Major CRS providers include:
- Amadeus, designed by Air France and Lufthansa, used by the AmadeusLink and TripWeb websites
- Galileo, designed by United, British Airways, and Swissair, used by the Cheap Tickets website
- Sabre, designed by American Airlines and IBM, used by the Travelocity website
- Worldspan, designed by Delta, Northwest, and TWA, used by the Expedia website
