Damon J. Keith

Damon J. Keith (b. 1922) is a judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
In his written opinion for the 2002 case Detroit Free Press v. Ashcroft, in which the court upheld the ruling prohibiting the government from holding all immigration proceedings in secret, Keith famously wrote "Democracies die behind closed doors."
