Daniel Evans

Daniel Jackson "Dan" Evans (1925 - )was a United States Senator from Washington State. He served in the Senate from 1983 - 1989.
A moderate Republican, Evans also served as the Governor of Washington from 1965 to 1977, an incredible run for a Republican in the predominantly Democratic state. He was also president of The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, serving in that capacity from 1977 to 1983.
He was initially appointed to the Senate to fill the vacancy created by the death of Henry M. Jackson, then was elected in his own right a month later.
He is the chairman of Daniel J. Evans Associates, and has served as a radio and television political commentator. He is still active in public life, speaking out on issues of importance and supporting Republican candidates.
