Donets’ka oblast’ (Донецька область in Ukrainian) is an oblast' (province) of eastern Ukraine. Its capital is Donets'k. Historically, the province is a main part of Donbas region.
The region's population is the largest in Ukraine, due to the few big industrial cities and numerous laborer villages agglomerated around them (see urbanization).
The area of the region is 26,500 km². Its population (as of 2004-05-01) is 4.7 million.
