EMT64

From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.

EMT64 Stands for 64-Bit Extended Memory Technology; it is Intel's answer to Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) x86-64 Technology, which permits simultanious 64-Bit and 32-Bit computing.

EMT64 is designed for the consumer, and should not be confused with IA64, Intel's first 64-Bit Architecture, found in their Itanium Line of Processors. EMT64 is now being implemented in Intel's Xeon Line of Server Processors, and is expected to make it's migration to Intel's Pentium 4 Line of Processors in the next year, as the Software Industry makes the migration from 32-Bit to 64-Bit computing.
