Elizabeth George Speare

Elizabeth George Speare (November 21, 1908-1994) was a respected and talented writer who won several Newbery Medals for her historical fiction books for children. She was born and lived in New England, which is the setting for much of her writing. She wrote The Witch Of Blackbird Pond. The Witch of Blackbird Pond is a historical fiction book about a girl moving to New England and attempting to adjust to this new society, all while undergoing accasations of being a witch.
