Football League Third Division South

From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.

The Third Division South of The Football League was a level in English association football, which ran parallel to Third Division North from 1921 to 1958. The division was born from most of the teams, which were introduced to the Third Division from the Southern League the previous season. Each season 24 teams competed for one promotion place to the Second Division.

In 1958, the North and South divisions were merged back into the Third Division and the new Fourth Division.
