Greetsiel

Greetsiel is a small port on the river Leybucht in western Ostfriesland (East Frisia). Greetsiel was first mentioned in letters from the year 1388. Since 1972 Greetsiel has belonged to the municipality of Krummhörn, with the administrative seat in Pewsum. The nearest major transportation center is Emden, about 15-20 kilometers away. Although originally a fishing village, Greetsiel has moved on to become a major tourist attraction.
