Hectare

A hectare (symbol ha) is a metric unit of surface area, equal to 100 ares (the name is a contraction of the SI prefix hecto + are). It is a non-SI unit currently accepted (although discouraged) for use with the SI.
In India, also the abbreviation hac is used.
One hectare is equivalent to:
- 100 ares
- 10 000 square metres
- 1 square hectometre (a square with sides 100 metres long)
- 0.01 square kilometres
- 2.471 053 8 international acres
- 2.471 043 9 U.S. survey acres
Conversely:
- 100 hectares is equal to one square kilometre.
- 0.404 685 64 hectares is equal to one international acre
- 0.404 687 26 hectares is equal to one U.S. survey acre
