James Abercromby

James Abercromby, 1st Baron Dunfermline (7 November 1776 - 17 April 1858), Speaker of the British House of Commons 1835-39, was the third son of General Sir Ralph Abercromby.

A barrister, he was Whig MP for Midhurst 1807-12, and for Calne 1812-32. After the Reform Act of 1832 he sat for Edinburgh until 1839, when he was created Baron Dunfermline, of Dunfermline in the County of Fife. He was Master of the Mint in the administration of Lord Grey.
