John Scott of Scott's Hall

Sir John Scott (died October 17, 1485) was Warden of the Cinque Ports.

Sir John was born at his family home of Scott's Hall at Brabourne in Kent, England. He was the grandfather of Sir William Scott.

Sir John married Agnes de Beaufitz, born 'of the Grange, Gillingham' in Kent. Agnes de Beaufitz had died by the July 4, 1487, and was buried at the parish Church of Brabourne. Her will is dated March 25. Sir John Scott had died before his wife, also at Brabourne, where he is buried in the local church. During his distinguised career Sir John had been a Comptroller of the household of king Edward IV of England, and Chamberlain to Edward, Prince of Wales. He was also an Ambassador to Burgundy, Sheriff of Kent, Governor of Dover Castle, and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.

A relative from an earlier generation in his family, also one Sir John Scot, born at Brabourne had been a Lieutenant of Dover Castle in 1399-1413, when he died. He had also served as the Member of Parliament for Hythe, Kent from 1384.
