Kyzyl (Кызы́л, meaning "red" in Tuvan language) is a town in Russia, capital of the republic of Tuva. Kyzyl is located exactly in the geographical center of Asia.
Founded in 1914 as Belotsarsk (Белоца́рск), in 1918 renamed Khem-Beldyr (Хем-Белды́р), in 1926 renamed Kyzyl.
Population 76,000 (1985).
