Maryinsky Theatre

The Maryinsky (or Mariinsky) Theatre (or Theater), is the St Petersburg theatre where the Mariinsky Ballet is located. Built in 1859 the building, once known in the Soviet era as the Kirov Opera and Ballet Theater, was renamed in 1992. The theater was the home of several famous impresarios, conductors, and musicians including the ballet dancer Vatslav Nijinsky.
