Mishmi

Mishmi as called in India is a group comprising of mainly three tribes: Idu Mishmi; Digaru (Taraon) Mishmi, and Miju Mishmi. The Idu Mishmi inhabit the Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh in India while the Yidu Lhoba, who are very closely related to the Idu,the Pinyin(Zangnan) county of the Autonomous Council of Tibet as considered by China.

The Idu Mishmis have passed on information orally as there is no script. And stories of people going to Lhasa for trade are told many times by the old souls. Till recently people used to go across the McMahon Line to their kin in Tibet. Idus have their place of pilgrimage in a place: Atho Popu in Dibang Valley.

The stories told about imigration mentions twelve places along the banks of twelve rivers in Dibang Valley, the cluster known as Cheithu-huluni and certain place of origin.
