Nanyang

Nanyang (南阳; pinyin: nán yáng) is a city in the south of Henan, a province in China. The town lies on the river Baihe, which has clear water and an abundant supply of fish. The word Nanyang is a reference to the Southeast Asian region.

Nanyang has a population of about 10,500,000 people and covers an area of about 26600 square kilometers.

Dinosaur egg fossils have been discovered in Nanyang Basin.

Geography

To the north of the town, there is a mountain called Dushan.

The climate is comfortable, and the whole of Nanyang is surrounded by mountains where cattle are raised. The fields are fertile and the agriculture is well-developed.

Economy

Nanyang has a developing cattle industry, as well as a tobacco factory.

Nanyang produces two kinds of quality wine: Shedianlaojiu and Wolongyuye.

Nanyang is also the Chinese name for Southeast Asia, except the Chinese characters are different (南洋; pinyin is also nán yáng). The word "Nanyang" was used mainly by Chinese migrants in Singapore.
