New Wave

The term "New Wave" has been used to describe several movements in art. These include:
- The French new wave, or (nouvelle vague), movement in film.
- The New Wave music movement which occurred in the U.S. and U.K. in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
- The New Wave movement in science fiction.
- Punk rock music, referring initially to music on the Sire Records label in the US, and later to light pop music in the U.K. during the 1980s.
The term is also a name of a software product released by Hewlett-Packard circa 1988. See NewWave (HP software).
