Remifentanil

Remifentanil is an analgesic drug, given to patients during surgery to relieve pain and as a compliment to an anaesthetic. It is often administered in the form remifentanil hydrochloride. The drug's effects include a 20% decrease in heart rate and arterial pressure; and decrease in respiratory rate and tidal volume (wooden chest is sometimes noted). The drug is noted for the rate of its clearance.
