Rose Garden Arena

From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.

The Rose Garden is the main sports arena in Portland, Oregon, and owned through a corporation by Paul Allen.

It was built in 1993, its construction funded in part by a $155 million loan from a consortium of lenders who included TIAA-CREF, Prudential Insurance, and Farmers Insurance. Claiming the local economy was responsible for reduced revenues which made it unable to make payments on that loan, the corporation filed for bankruptcy February 27, 2004. The bankruptcy trial began September 9, 2004.

The NBA Portland Trail Blazers play their home games here, who moved from the adjacent Memorial Coliseum, which is managed by the same corporation.
