Shramanism

From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.

Shramanism was a religious and philosophical movement in India about 2500 years ago. It consisted of a large number of different factions, with actually very little in common, except their opposition against Brahmanism and their refusal to accept the caste system and the Vedas. Two of these factions have survived, and become full-fledged religions: Jainism and Buddhism.
