Sognefjorden (or Sognefjord, the suffix "-en" is a form of the definite article in the Norwegian language) is the second largest fjord in the world after Scoresby Sund on Greenland. It is situated in Sogn og Fjordane in Norway. It is 203 km long and 1,308 m deep. Among the important settlements on the fjord or its arms are Gudvangen and Flåm, from which the famous Flåmbanen railway climbs up to Myrdal in the steepest unassisted railway climb in the world.
Over the Sognefjorden a powerline with a span width of 4597 metres is installed. This is the second largest span width of powerlines in the world.
