Stereobelt

From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.

The Stereobelt is a portable audio device, very similar to the Walkman. It was invented in the year 1977 by the German Andreas Pavel and patented in Italy and other European countries. At first he had planned to market his product by himself, but his plans never took off. The first Sony Walkman was sold 1979.

So it looks like Pavel is the first inventor of the "Walkman".

Even as he didn't manage to win court battles against the Sony company, it came to an out of court settlement with Sony, after Akio Morita, the official Walkman inventor died.
