Dame Sybil Thorndike (1882-1976) was a Britsih majestic actor, who pleased Medea, Lady Macbeth and other challenging roles. Trained at Ben Greet's Academy, on stage from 1904, she played at Old Vic in London
for decades and also made
Married to Sir Lewis Casson.
In 1931 she was made a "dame" receiving the DBE
Her bibliography was published in 1977 by Sheridan Morley
