The Comedian (comics)

The Comedian is a fictional superhero who is a central character in the classic comic book series, Watchmen (by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, published by DC Comics). He is a modified version of the character The Peacemaker from Charlton Comics.

His civilian name in the Watchmen story is Edward Morgan Blake. He was born in 1924, and the storyline sets off when he is killed in 1985 in Moore's fictional world.

The key element of his personality was that he saw life as a dark joke and laughed at his own behaviour which was typically antisocial and violent in the extreme.
