The Crab with the Golden Claws

From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.

The Crab with the Golden Claws (originally Le Crabe aux Pinces d'Or) is a one of a series of classic comic-strip albums, written and illustrated by Belgian writer and illustrator Hergé, featuring young reporter Tintin as a hero.

The Crab with the Golden Claws is the ninth in the series. It was first published (in French) in 1941.

The Storyline

The story begins with mysterious counterfeit coins and strange tins of crab-meat, and the story of a drunken man. A scrap of paper from a tin shows the ship Karaboudjan, which Tintin is locked away in by a gang of criminals who have hidden opium in crab-meat tins. Here he also meets Captain Haddock for the first time.

After flying a plane and trekking through the Sahara desert in North Africa, Tintin eventually thwarts their evil scheme.
