From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.
A Thrust Theatre is a theatre which has audience seating on two sides of the performance space. A related term is the modified thrust theatre, which has audience on three sides of the performance space.
Thrust is not the dominant format in Western theatre; the dominant form of stage is the proscenium stage. Thrust, like Arena stage, is mainly a creative alternative to the proscenium format.
