Tramlink
From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.
Tramlink (until recently known as Croydon Tramlink) is a public transport system in south London, operated by FirstGroup on behalf of Transport for London. Interchange is possible with National Rail and the London Underground at certain points. The system, centred on Croydon, began operation in May 2000. It consists of Bombardier-built low floor articulated trams which run partially on-street and partially beside Network Rail's tracks.
The system is currently based in the London Borough of Croydon, but extensions and other tram systems are planned in London; and the network was rebranded in anticipation of that.
