Dr. Zahi Hawass (born Damietta, Egypt, on 28 May 1947) is one of the world's foremost egyptologists and, in recent years, has become something of a TV personality.

He is currently the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities; prior to that, he was the Director of the Giza Plateau. In addition to Giza, he has also worked at archaeological sites in the Nile Delta, the Western Desert, and the Upper Nile Valley.

He is most famous with the public for his regular appearances on TV shows about Ancient Egypt. He is also known as a vehement opponent of the Chariots of the Gods theories about a previous pan-Terran civilization.
